HI crafty friends - it's Simeen from @simeen-creates. Now that the holidays are wrapping up, it’s time to start crafting for my second favorite holiday—Valentine’s Day! 💕 I couldn’t be more excited to share today’s project featuring brand new products from Lawn Fawn. I’m creating a Valentine’s card using the Soy Happy stamp, coordinating dies, and coloring stencil set. Sushi and Valentine’s Day? Two of my favorite things coming together in the cutest way possible!

I began by stamping the soy sauce bottle and sushi nigiri images using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I chose this ink because it’s alcohol-marker safe, which gave me the flexibility to decide later whether I wanted to use the coloring stencils or my Copic markers.
In the end, I decided to use both, and I’m so glad I did! The coloring stencils made adding color to the soy sauce bottle quick and easy. I blended Catherine Pooler Inks in Oh Boy!, S’Mores, Goldenrod, and Samba to create a warm, realistic, layered look.

For the sushi nigiri, I reached for my Copic markers to try and achieve the perfect salmon nigiri color. I used YR82, W0, and W1, keeping the shading soft and simple so the images stayed light, cute, and true to Lawn Fawn’s style.
Once all of the coloring was finished, I used the Soy Happy coordinating dies to die cut the sushi and soy sauce images. I always love how perfectly Lawn Fawn dies line up—it makes the process quick and effortless. After die cutting, I added the cutest little smiley faces to each piece, instantly giving them so much personality. This small step really brings the images to life and adds that extra dose of charm.

With all of the images ready to go, it was time to move on to the background. As part of Lawn Fawn’s new release, they introduced the Checkered Hearts Backdrop die, which was the perfect choice for this Valentine’s Day card. The die cuts to a perfect A2 size and features the sweetest little heart cutouts throughout the design. To really make those hearts pop, I placed a piece of red cardstock behind the die-cut panel. That pop of red instantly added a bold Valentine feel and helped the heart details really shine.
To showcase the soy sauce and sushi images, I placed them on a scalloped circle, which helped frame the images and draw the eye to the focal point. I added foam squares behind the images for dimension, along with even more depth by die cutting the scalloped circle three times and stacking them together.

With the detailed background, placing the sushi on the scalloped circle really helped it stand out and kept the design from feeling too busy. I stamped the sentiment onto white cardstock and added it to the circle as well, tying the whole design together.
With that, the card was complete—a fun, love-filled Valentine that’s absolutely perfect for sushi lovers like me! 🍣💕
