Hey there, crafty crew! 👋 Welcome back to the ScrapbookPal Blog!
Â
I’m Deepa from @deezinesbyd, and today I’m sharing a whimsical and elegant floral card featuring the Altenew Build-A-Garden: Flourishing Flora Kit. This card combines soft coloring, delicate florals, and a creative spotlight technique to create a design that feels both airy and sophisticated. 🌷✨

What makes this kit so special is the beautifully detailed floral imagery. The blooms are graceful and elegant, making them perfect for everything from clean and simple cards to more elaborate layered designs. For this project, I wanted to try something a little different by creating a focal point that draws the eye directly to the center of the card while still allowing the floral image to shine across the entire design.
Â
For this card, I started by stamping the gorgeous floral image across the card panel. Instead of coloring the entire image, I used a spotlight technique by focusing my coloring inside a layered mirrored arch frame. This creates an eye-catching contrast between the softly colored flowers and the surrounding black line art, instantly adding depth and interest without requiring extensive coloring.
Â

Next came the coloring, which is always one of my favorite parts of the process! I used Pinkfresh Studio inks soft lavender, blush pink, and fresh green tones to bring the flowers to life. These colors complement one another beautifully and create a peaceful, elegant feel. Because only a portion of the image is inked up, the floral details inside the frame become even more striking and serve as the star of the card.
Â
To further enhance the focal point, I added multiple layers to the mirrored arch frame using coordinating shades of lavender cardstock. This simple addition creates wonderful dimension and helps guide the eye toward the center sentiment. The layered frame almost feels like a little window into a secret floral garden tucked within the stamped image.
Â

For the sentiment, I chose a beautiful gold embossed greeting that perfectly complements the soft floral palette. The warm metallic shine adds elegance while providing just enough contrast against the delicate colors. The curved sentiment at the top helps frame the design and adds a touch of movement that echoes the flowing lines of the florals.
Â
To finish the card, I scattered a few sparkling gems around the focal area. These tiny embellishments catch the light beautifully and add just the right amount of shimmer without overwhelming the clean design. ✨💎

This project is a wonderful reminder that you don't always need to color an entire image to create a stunning card. By selectively highlighting portions of a stamped design, you can create unique focal points that feel artistic, intentional, and full of visual interest.
Â
I hope this project inspires you to experiment with spotlight techniques, layered frames, and soft floral color palettes in your own cardmaking adventures. Sometimes the simplest techniques can produce the most striking results!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting! 🌷✨
