Welcome to the Scrapbook Pal Blog! April Leithner from @inkycreationswithapril with you today to share a wonderful floral card. Spring is coming up fast and I always look forward to all the beautiful flowers budding out. Altenew makes fantastic florals and for this card I used the Build a Garden Breezy Petals Bundle. This bundle includes a large stamp set, layering stencils and a mini ink blending brush.
- Stamp and heat emboss large floral image from the Altenew Build a Garden Breezy Petals Bundle Stamp Set with black ink and clear embossing powder.
- Use coordinating layering stencils in Bundle to ink blend with Pinkfresh Studio Ink Cubes. Ink cubes used: Waterfall, Paradise, Atlantis, Sky Blue, Seaside, Storm, Misty Coast, Rocky Slope, Marigold, Clementine. The mini blending brush included in the Build a Garden Breezy Petals Bundle is the perfect size for these images.
- The Altenew Stampwheel has a wonderful sticky mat in it that is perfect for holding your cardstock and stencils in place while you ink blend.
- Fussy cut floral image.
- Sprinkle water droplets over image and use paper towel to soak up water. This adds some subtle texture to the image as it leaves drop like images in the ink where the ink reacted with the water.
- Heat emboss sentiment from Breezy Petals Stamp Set with black ink and clear embossing powder. Fussy cut around sentiment
- Heat emboss a sub sentiment from stamp set using clear embossing ink and white embossing powder on black cardstock. Trim sentiment.
- Use Spellbinders Notched Corner Frames to create a shaped card base.
- Place largest Notched Corner Frame die on a pre-folded card base. On the folded edge place the die cut edge slightly above the fold so it does not cut this portion when ran through a die cut machine.
- Die cut.
- Next die cut the same frame die from white cardstock.
- Go direct to paper (my favorite way to create colored cardstock) to this frame with Paradise Ink Cube. Just go around the edges of the cardstock. Only a little over a ¼” will show when layers are added so no need to use extra ink from the ink cube.
- Set aside to dry.
- Use the next size Notched Corner Frame die to die cut a piece of silver specialty cardstock. Glitter cardstock would be nice here as well.
- Adhere the sliver layer onto the background panel. Then layer this panel to the card base.
- Use 3D Foam Squares to pop up the floral image that was ink blended earlier.
- Trim off any image that is over hanging the card base.
- Pop up part of the sentiment with a 3D Foam Square and adhere the other part to the floral image in the upper left corner.
- Adhere sub sentiment directly to floral image under sentiment.
- Add a sprinkling of Crystal Clear Gem Sparkles from Altenew.
This card has me eagerly awaiting a spring filled with beautiful blooms. I hope this card inspires you to try a wonderful bundle like the Build a Garden Breezy Petals Bundle and to make a card using your large shape dies. This adds a little something extra to a card. Thanks for stopping by the blog today!!
