Altenew's Houseplant Friendship Card

Altenew's Houseplant Friendship Card

Posted by Sandra Cogdill on

Hello my card making friends, it Sandy from @SandyCogdillDesigns for the ScrapbookPal Blog.

Today I have the most beautiful card featuring Altenew's Houseplants Die. This is such a great set because you can either make a hanging plant or potted plant.  I decided to do both.  This is the perfect project to combine the use of ink and markers.  Lets get started!

In the die set, there are three different types of foliage.  I did each of them using white cardstock blended with Distress Oxide Ink and complimentary colored Copic markers.

The first color combination is:   Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Ink and Copic Markers YG63 and YG67.

The second combination is:  Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Ink and Copic Markers BG93 and G85.

The third combination is:  Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide Ink and Copic Markers YG23 and YG17.

The lavender flowers are cut from white cardstock that had Milled Lavender Distress Oxide Ink blended on it.  I used a Copic Marker BV11 to add some detail to the petals and the center piece was colored with BV13.

The orange flowers are cut from white cardstock blended with Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon and Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Ink.  I just placed the die randomly on the inked areas so that I had a nice variation in color.  I used a Copic Marker RV04 to add detail to the petals.

The markers were used to just "flick" a little color on the petals and leaves, which helps give them some dimension.

The centers on all the flowers are from white cardstock blended with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink.

For the pots, I used two different colors of gray cardstock with a brown cardstock backing.  To add a little shading on the pot, I used Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink.  The rim of the pot, is white cardstock Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink.

For the background, I used an off-white cardstock spritzed with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Spray.  Once the ink was dry, I used Altenew's Masonry Wall 3D embossing folder to give it some nice texture.

For the sentiment, I used Altenew's Tranquil Greetings stamps and dies with Memento Black Ink.

Everything on this card was adhered with Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue.  I love everything about this glue from the drying time to the micro tip for fussy gluing.

I hope you think this card is beautiful as I do and have been inspired to make one of your own.  Until next month.....

Sandy
