Elegant Poinsettia Holiday Card

Elegant Poinsettia Holiday Card

Posted by Andrea Shell on

Hi, crafty people! It's Andrea with my first blog post as a design team member (somebody pinch me). For today's card I played with some gorgeous, new products from Honey Bee Stamps.

Isn't that poinsettia stunning?! It's from Honey Bee's Lovely Layers: Poinsettia Honey Cuts. The amount of dimension, plus the embossed details, these dies create make them perfect for all of your holiday papercrafting.

I diecut the poinsettia layers from red and green cardstocks and then added more color and depth with distress inks (colors listed below). To give the red leaves more dimension, I misted them lightly with water and then curled them with the barrel of a thin paintbrush. After assembling the poinsettia, I inked up the tips of the red leaves with gold ink and adhered Pinkfresh Studio's Metallic Pearls - Gold to the center.

I decided to create a 5"x7" card to allow that beautiful poinsettia to shine (no pun intended). For my background I embossed black cardstock with Spellbinders' Scenic Poinsettias 3D Embossing Folder. I adhered the embossed panel to my card and glued the poinsettia. My sentiment is from Honey Bee Stamps' Foil Script: Holiday Hot Foil Plate & Honey Cuts. I foiled it with Spellbinders' Polished Brass Glimmer Hot Foil and popped it up with bits of foam tape. I finished with a scattering of more gold pearls.

Have a wonderful day!
