Hi crafty friends! Today I am sharing a card featuring the Hero Arts Unbelievably Awesome stamps and dies as well as their Unbelievably Awesome Banners stamps. These stamp sets are perfect for adding a touch of magic and whimsy to a variety of card occasions including the one I’m sharing with you today. I hope you enjoy this card that possesses a touch of enchantment!

Creating the Background
For the background, I cut a piece of light blue cardstock to measure 4.25” x 5.5”. Using the Spellbinders Lakeside Memories stencil set and my Altenew Stampwheel Sticky Mat, I began the background ink blending with stencil #1 and used Tim Holtz Distress Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink pad to fill in the hill area of the stencil. I also added just a touch of Tim Holtz Distress Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink along the upper edge of the hills since they will be getting the light from the sun. For stencil #2, I chose to ink blend the tree line using an overall layer of Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink and blended the lower edge of the trees with Tim Holtz Forest Moss Distress Oxide ink.
I skipped ahead to stencil #4 to add the beach area before inking the water. For the beach, I ink blended Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Oxide, Brushed Corduroy Distress Oxide, and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks to achieve the desired look. I also added the ink blending for the sun on this stencil using Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide and added a tiny amount of Mustard Seed Distress Oxide around the sun’s outer edges for create depth.

I grabbed a sheet of Gina K. Designs Masking Magic and placed stencil #4 over it and traced around the beach opening with a pencil, then used Cutter Bee scissors to cut out the beach’s mask. I removed the backing paper from the Masking Magic mask I created and adhered it over the beach’s ink blending, then placed a strip of Masking Magic alongside the bottom edge of the tree line to mask off the upper portion of the background. Using the Altenew Brilliant Waves Background stencil, I ink blended the water using a combination of Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide, Broken China Distress Oxide, and Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide inks. Once the inking was completed, I removed the stencil and lightly covered the lines that were left by the stencil with the Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide and darkened the left and right edges with the Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink. Before removing the upper and lower masks, I mixed a small dollop of Altenew Pearl Shimmer Relief Paste with a few drops of water and spattered it across the entire water section of the background using a #3 round watercolor brush. Once the spatter dried, I removed the masks and placed the background panel into my MISTI stamp positioning tool, covered the background panel with the Spelllbinders Lakeside Memories stencil #4 and lined it up carefully with the beach area, then used the Honey Bee Stamps Sandy Shores stamp and dark brown ink to add texture and interest to the sandy beach.
Creating the Focal Point
I began creating the focal point elements by stamping the monster character and the two clouds from the Hero Arts Unbelievably Awesome stamp set onto a piece of white cardstock using Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. I used Copic Sketch alcohol markers for the coloring and the color combinations I used were:
Monster Upper Body: Copic Sketch Markers G09, YG09, YG07, YG03
Monster Underside of Body: Copic Sketch Markers YG17, YG13, YG01
Clouds: Copic Sketch Marker BG000
Once the coloring was completed, I die cut the images using the Hero Arts Unbelievably Awesome coordinating die set and added Scrapbook Adhesives Thin 3D Foam Squares behind the die cut segments of the monster.

Creating the Sentiment
For the sentiment, I used the Hero Arts Unbelievably Awesome Banners stamp set and selected the “Have A Magical Birthday” sentiment stamp. I swiped color onto a piece of the same light blue cardstock I used for the background and used Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Oxide Ink so the color would match the water feature. I set this aside to fully dry to keep the embossing powder from sticking to the cardstock in places I didn’t want it. Once dried, I placed the Broken China Distress Oxide cardstock into my MISTI stamping tool and applied a coating of Ranger Anti-Static powder across the paper, then used VersaMark watermark ink to stamp the image onto the cardstock. Next, I sprinkled Gina K. Designs Detail White embossing powder over the stamped image and melted the powder with my heat tool. Once it cooled, I used a microfiber cloth to remove the excess anti-static powder and used my Cutter Bee scissors to fussy cut the banner. I applied Scrapbook Adhesives Thin 3D Foam Squares behind the sentiment.

Assembling the Card
I die cut a piece of reddish-brown cardstock to measure 4.25” x 5.5” and used Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue to adhere it to the front of a white, A2 size card base. I trimmed my background panel to measure 4” x 5.25” and placed the panel into my MISTI stamping tool to add the underwater portion of the monster from the Hero Arts Unbelievably Awesome stamp set, as well as two of the small fish stamps in that set. I inked the stamps with Tim Holtz Uncharted Mariner Oxide Ink and stamped them directly onto the background panel. I added Altenew 1” x 1/16” White Instant Dimension Foam Tape to the back side of the background panel and adhered it to the card base. Using liquid glue, I adhered the clouds onto the background panel and removed the adhesive backing from the monster’s segments and adhered them to the corresponding locations of the card, then adhered the sentiment. My final touches were to add five bubble embellishments around the focal point and used a white Gelly Roll pen to add highlights to the monster.
