Hi crafty friends! Today I am sharing a card featuring Lawn’s Fawn Workshop Backdrop dies, Lawn Fawn’s Mice Tools stamps and their Mice Tools coordinating die set. These mice characters made such a cute scene building a birdhouse to represent a card for someone in your life who bought a new home or you could change up the sentiment for a variety of occasions. Incredibly fun stamps that were so much fun to work with and color. I hope you enjoy this whimsical card!
Creating the Background/Focal Point Panel
For the background, I die cut a hazelnut piece of cardstock using the largest, frame die in the Lawn Fawn Workshop Backdrop: Landscape die set two times to stack for dimension. Using a Ranger Ink Blending Tool, I applied Ranger/Tim Holtz Ground Espresso Distress Ink to the edges of the top frame and adhered the two backdrop layers together using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue. Next, I selected a piece of patterned paper from my stash and trimmed it to be 5.5” x 4.25”. I applied the 1/16" Altenew Foam Instant Dimension Foam Tape (1/4" wide) and Instant Dimension Foam Tape (1" wide) to the back side of the Workshop Backdrop die cut and adhered it to the patterned paper.
Creating the Focal Point
I began creating the focal point elements by die cutting the Lawn Fawn Build-A-Birdhouse dies from grey woodgrain cardstock, dark teal, and a dark grey cardstock for the interior to complete the birdhouse’s look. I applied a light blending of Ranger Ink/Tim Holtz Distress Hickory Smoke ink to the outer edges of the birdhouse structure and just below the roof line. To add some additional depth, I used Copic Sketch markers N8 and N5 just underneath the roof’s shingles for shadowing and adhered the pieces together using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue.

For the mice, I stamped each of the images I thought I might use from the Lawn Fawn Mice Tools stamp set onto a piece of white cardstock using Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink and my MISTI stamping tool. For the little bird on the box, I stamped one of the images from Lawn Fawn’s Winter Birds stamp set in the Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink. I used Copic Sketch alcohol markers for the coloring and my combinations are listed below:
Mice Bodies: Copic Sketch - W5, W3, W1, R20, R00
Box & Wood: Copic Sketch - E37, E35, E33, E31
Metal on Tools: Copic Sketch - C2, C0
Teals: Copic Sketch - BG49, BG45, BG000
Peaches: Copic Sketch - YR07, YR02, YR00
Bird: Copic Sketch - E37, E35, E31, BG45, YR02
Once the coloring was completed, I used the Lawn Fawn Mice Tools coordinating die set to die cut all the little images from the cardstock and my Cutter Bee scissors to fussy cut around the small bird.
Creating the Sentiment
For the sentiment, I selected the Lawn Fawn Henry’s ABCs die set and die cut the letters for the words “NEW HOME” from the grey, woodgrain cardstock once and twice from the hazelnut cardstock. I glued the three layers together with Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue for a stacked sentiment. For the sub-sentiment, I selected the words “CHEERS TO YOUR” from the Lawn Fawn Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Birthday stamp set and stamped them onto the dark teal cardstock that was prepped with the Ranger Anti-Static Pouch using VersaMark Watermark ink and an acrylic block. I applied a coating of Gina K. Designs Detail White embossing powder over the stamped words and melted the embossing powder with a heat tool. I trimmed the sentiment to size and added Scrapbook Adhesives Thin 3D Foam Squares to the back side.

Assembling the Card
First, I used liquid glue to adhere the birdhouse die cut in place, then positioned the other images around it to create a cute little construction scene. The toolbox was glued directly to the patterned paper in the background and all other images were popped up with Scrapbook Adhesives Thin 3D Foam Squares. I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the bird’s beak and dotted the eyes of the mice with a black Glaze pen. I positioned the “NEW HOME” sentiment letters across the bottom of the card using a T-square for alignment, picked them up with low tack tape to maintain their spacing and added liquid glue to the back side of the letters. Holding the letters by the tape only, I hovered them over the card and carefully laid them back onto the card front and into position. The “Cheers to Your” sentiment was popped up with Thin 3D Foam Squares and adhered to the upper right corner of the background. My final touch was to glue the tops of four brads that I had in my stash to cover the four holes in the cardstock that were at the four corners of the sentiment area and die cut a red heart using the heart die found in Lawn Fawn’s Build-A-Birdhouse die set.
