Layered Lilac Card with Hero Arts Spring Meadow

Layered Lilac Card with Hero Arts Spring Meadow

Posted by Raquel Sanchez-Krohn on

Hi crafty friends!

Raquel here coming along with a fun mixed-media tutorial featuring the Spring Meadow collection from Hero Arts along with a bunch of colorful options for you to make an outstanding card for any occasion. This collection features several stamps and dies. I will be focusing on the Layered Lilac dies and the Birdsong Script 6”x6” stamp.

Our card base is A2, top folding, and will have matting layers to match. You can cut these in graduated sizes for a clean look. Cut all floral layers out of 300gsm white card, and also cut a separate 4.25”x5.5” matting layer out of the same paper, we will color this next.

Use Distress Oxide inks, Distress Watercolor Pencils, and soft brushes to apply the colors onto each layer. Concentrate on creating a graduated color base, with darker colors on the edge, and green on the center base bloom. Continue coloring each layer using different shades of lavender and pink as well as the trio of Copics mentioned. Finish with a platter of Black Soot and Picket fence by wetting the brush and crayons, then use your thumb to splatter the ink. Use the same technique on the leaves.

For the gray matting layer, let's create a resist technique. Prep your paper, stamp with Versamark ink, and set your clear embossing powder using the heat tool. Using a small Tim Holtz brayer apply gray and lavender inks alternately, with crisscross motions.  Remove any excess ink from the script layer with a kitchen towel to reveal the white script.

Once all of the coloring is dry add your matting layers and assemble the blooms as per the video, using dimensional adhesive as needed. For one last touch of color, use Nuvo drops in the flower centers and around the flower.  Your beautiful card is now complete! I invite you to subscribe to Scrapbook Pal, watch the video tutorial for more details, and use the links below for any supplies you may need to create your own version. Thank you for your time! Be inspired, Be Blessed!
