Spellbinders Bougie Birthday Ganache Gateau

Spellbinders Bougie Birthday Ganache Gateau

Posted by Kathy Schweinfurth on

Our family has five people with birthdays in January!  It's a big celebration month and what's a celebration without cake...a big, scrumptious, festive cake?!

Here's how I created my card...

1)  Taking a piece of dark gray cardstock, I splattered some Spellbinders Splatter White Opaque Watercolor on it and set it aside to dry.

2)  I cut white cardstock with the cake base die from the Spellbinders Bougie Birthday Ganache Gateau die set and embossed it with Spellbinders Plaster 3D Embossing Folder.

3)  For the ganache at the top and icing at the bottom, I cut dark brown cardstock and adhered it to the cake base.

4)  Then I die cut the banner sticks from kraft cardstock; the base of the banner from gold shiny cardstock and adhered it to the sticks.  The circles were cut from different colored cardstock and adhered to the banner base.

5)  Those special macaroons are cut with different layering dies in the set from different colored, coordinating cardstock.

6)  I adhered the gray cardstock piece to the card base then popped up the assembled, decorated cake to the card base.  This 'cake' could also be made into a shaped card by cutting another cake base and hinge it to the back.

7)  To finish, I cut gold shiny cardstock with the 'cheer' word die from Spellbinders Birthday Cheers die set and popped it up onto the middle of the cake and added a few colored circles.
