Spellbinders Cheerful Chirps

Spellbinders Cheerful Chirps

Posted by Colleen Beamish on

Hi there! Colleen Beamish here from @humorbean_cards, and today I’m excited to share a vibrant tropical card I made using the Spellbinders Cheerful Chirps collection.

There are two things I absolutely love about this card design: the subtle tone-on-tone background and the bold, colorful bird that takes center stage.

For the background, I used a single solid leaf die from the set and cut it multiple times from a card panel, creating a simple and striking pattern. To add even more interest, I ink-blended over the leaves, starting at the centers and blending outward. This gives a soft, dimensional effect that contrasts beautifully against the card base. I finished the background with an arch frame to help spotlight the bird.

The bird came together so easily and was pure fun to assemble. I chose a mix of vibrant orange papers from my stash and added a bit of ink blending on each piece to give extra depth and dimension. Using liquid glue, I pieced it all together, then finished it off with highlights from a white gel pen. The bird is popped up with foam tape for dimension, nestled into the tropical foliage around it.

I finished the card with a white heat-embossed sentiment on teal cardstock to really make it stand out against the background. Be sure to watch the video to see the entire card making process.

I hope this card brings a little tropical cheer to your day! Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting!
