Welcome back! I’m Dawn Pauley from D Pauley Designs, and today I’m excited to share a fun card featuring the Spellbinders Mindy Eggen’s Classic Road Collection 2.0. If you love scenic backgrounds, ink blending, and detailed die-cut projects, you’re going to love today’s tutorial!

Products Featured
For today’s card I used three products from the collection:
- Highway Horizon Desert Stencils – a 5-piece layering stencil set that creates a beautiful desert scene complete with a winding road, mountains, cactus, and a glowing sun.
- Road Trip Adventures Stamp & Die Set – filled with travel-inspired sentiments, labels, and icons that are perfect for road trip and adventure-themed cards.
- Sedan Street Cruiser Die Set – a detailed 16-piece die set that builds an adorable vintage sedan packed with realistic details.
Creating the Desert Background
I started by creating the layered desert scene using the Highway Horizon Desert Stencils.
For this project I reached for my Distress Oxide Inks because they blend so beautifully together. I realized I hadn’t used them in a while, so this was the perfect opportunity to give them some love!

Building the Vintage Sedan
Next came my favorite part—the Sedan Street Cruiser!
I die cut all the pieces ahead of time and lightly ink blended around the body using Pinkfresh Studio Tidal Pond ink to add a little dimension.
This die set includes everything needed to build an incredibly detailed vintage car, including:
- Car body
- Roof
- Grill
- Bumpers
- Tires
- White walls
- Silver rims
- Steering wheel
- Mirrors
- Headlights
- Chrome trim
- Muffler
- Rear accents
- Undercarriage pieces
Assembly was surprisingly straightforward.
