Spellbinders Fair Winds Collection

Spellbinders Fair Winds Collection

Posted by Carrie Rhoades on

Hello my stamping friends. Carrie Rhoades here with a new card making video for you. Today, I am playing with the Fair Winds Collection by Spellbinders. Once again, Spellbinders delivers with die cuts that have so much detail and are still easy to put together. And this collection reminds me of my recent trip to the Pacific Coast in Washington state. See the collection in this video and the card I made with it.

If you cannot see the video on this screen, you can also watch it right here.

I used all three of the die sets in on my card to create a scene. Each die set is small and affordable, so you can pick and choose the elements you like best. The Set Sail set not only has the sail boat, but all so the detailed wave and layered clouds.  What I love about the Guiding Light set is that the Lighthouse comes with two rock formations as well as two flying seagulls, both perfect for a sea scape. The third die set in this collection, OH, Buoy!, is where I got the red, white and blue buoys from. There is also a pier post and a seagull to stand on it that I used for the inside of my card. Let's take a closer look at my card.

Behind the scene I did a little ink blending to create the water and sky. It is so easy to make a horizon line with a little bit of low tack tape. I used Salty Ocean and Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink for the ocean. For the sky I lightly dusted on some Stormy Sky Distress Oxide ink, purposely leaving lighter and white areas to give it more of a sky feel.

Look at the awesome sail boat on that wave. It's really only a little bit of die cutting and paper piecing to get this look. Easily done by cutting colored card stock. But for my largest wave die cut, I used white card stock and used the same inks to color it, so it would match my ink blended ocean.

The sentiment comes from another products in the Fair Winds Collection, Fair Winds Sentiments.  So many good, heartfelt sentiments in this stamp set, be sure to check it out!

All it takes to make a stunning card with this die set is a little bit of paper piecing, and the dies make impressions into the paper so you know right where to add each piece.

The Fair Winds collection is so well thought out, I love how all the pieces work together. There is also a stencil in this collection that I did not showcase which helps you make the ocean scene, complete with sky and rocks. Let me know what you think of this collection.

Thank you so much for taking time to visit the Scrapbook Pal blog today and for watching the video. I hope you enjoyed it and are inspired to create. You can find all the products I used in the Scrapbook Pal shop and linked for you below. Feel free to comment with any questions you might have.

Happy Stamping,

Carrie
