HEY FRIENDS! This is Nancy from Rowhouse Greetings and I’m back today with a new project featuring new products from Spellbinders – with a scalloped die from Pinkfresh Studio in a supporting role. I have a confession to make later on in this post, but for now, I’ll just tell you that my goal was to put a new twist on a stitched die. More later!
Today’s project features:

I started by cutting a piece of heavy-weight white cardstock to 4.25” x 11” scored at 5.5” for the card base. Next I cut a piece of white cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5”, positioned it inside of the Dazzling Dots Embossing Folder, and ran it through my die cutting machine.
I created two sets of frame die cuts using the largest die in the Stitched Scalloped Rectangles Die Set, cutting one from a soft gray cardstock and the other from white cardstock.
To create the card background, I glued the two layers of die cut frames together for added dimension. Next I trimmed the embossed panel to approximately 4” x 5” and glued it to the back of the frame. I glued the card background to the cardbase and set it aside.
So now we’re up to the main event - the Stitched Joy die from the Stitchmas Christmas Collection by Spellbinders which I cut from a piece of soft pink cardstock. And it’s time for me to make a confession – I don’t like to sew. Not buttons, socks and certainly not paper. I’ll go out and buy a new pair of socks before I’ll stitch a hole in the old ones - wasteful for sure, but what can I say? My mother was a seamstress and loved to sew, but it’s just not my thing. But papercrafting is, so I decided to approach this die set differently.
I love to draw mandalas – bet you didn’t know that little tidbit about me! – so I have a variety of pens in my craft room suitable for line drawing. So I pulled out a red and teal green gel pen and got to work. I sketched in the stitch lines from dot to dot as if I were using thread and needle. Voila! I had the impression of sewing without creating a single stitch!
So now all that’s left is to add some Joy! I used the letter dies that are included in the Stitched Joy set, cutting two sets from white cardstock and one from red glitter cardstock. I glued all of the layers together and then added them to the front of the faux stitched background.
To finish, I added silver metallic pearls to the center of each flower, foam squares to the back of the die cut, and assembled the layers as shown.
