Hello and welcome to ScrapbookPal.com. Raquel here from @paintsandglitter. Today I am bringing you a card created with the Cascading Coneflowers collection from Spellbinders.
You can create card fronts using any color combination with this collection. Today we will make echinacea blooms with some lovely layered ovals by incorporating Catherine Pooler inks and Scallop Stitched Ovals also from Spellbinders.
This collection also includes a stencil and a set of sentiment stamps, so be sure to check those out on the website. Let’s start with the two larger ovals from the Scalloped stitched edge ovals set and use the 3D folder and spritz of water. This will transform your paper with a lovely textural background. Use the additional scalloped layers to add a pop of color. I have cut those out of blue cardstock for visual contrast.
The coneflowers come in three different sizes, and in my video tutorial, you can see how easily you can layer and assemble these for your card front, but not before shading each petal, cone, and stem gently using different Catherine Pooler inks.
For a pretty glow, be sure to coordinate the ink colors to the color of your cardstock, but don’t be afraid to experiment with different color combinations. Small blending brushes from Spellbinders makes this very easy!
I finished the card with a messy bow made of coordinating seam binding, and attached a sentiment stamped with matching ink. You can omit the bow and use twine, or a die cut bow from the scalloped oval collection as an option. Use foam adhesive to attach your sentiment, and lastly, add small Nuvo drops along the scalloped edges. The result is a cheerful card full of color that you can be proud to gift!
